Vinyl

A practical and affordable alternative to ceramic tiles or wooden flooring in your home. Vinyl is a low maintenance option and is manufactured from impervious PVC, which is durable, hygienic and easy to clean making it perfect for heavy foot traffic areas. It’s also comfortable underfoot and gives a feeling of warmth. Modern day vinyl is incredibly stylish and offers a truly realistic appearance in a wide variety of designs and colours.

Cushion vinyl:

Cushion vinyl is a frequent choice in domestic kitchens, bathrooms and toilet areas. Because of the way it is made and its cushioned appearance, it is comfortable to walk on with bare feet. It is also extremely hardwearing, hygienic and easy to care for.

Manufactured with a cushioned base layer, a printed design layer and a protective wear layer, cushion vinyl comes in many stunning designs to suit any home. It is also available with a textured top layer to provide some slip resistance. Popular brands available from us are Forbo, Beauflor and Tarkett to name a few.

Safety Vinyl:

Safety flooring provides outstanding durability and sustainable slip resistance for areas where extra protection is required, making it an ideal choice for the elderly and disabled. It is perfect for fitting into bathrooms, shower rooms or any area that is susceptible to water in the home.

This type of durable vinyl can also be dressed up the wall using a cove former at the edges to create an entire area that is impervious to water and easily cleaned. The vinyl is two metres wide and comes in rolls of up to twenty metres in length. Any joins are heat welded to provide a tough seal. Top brands available are Altro,Polyflor and Tarkett.

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT):These low maintenance, individual PVC vinyl tiles are available in both tile or plank formats and they are suitable for any room in the house. One of the many benefits of luxury vinyl tiles is that they’re able to join to others of different styles without the use of transitions strips, meaning that multiple floor designs can be achieved giving your home a truly bespoke style.

We offer an extensive collection of shapes, designs and sizes giving you plenty of options. There are also feature strips and grout lines available in 3, 5 and 10mm widths so that borders, tramlines and grout lines can be created for a highly authentic look.

Because the tiles are made from PVC they are warm underfoot and extremely resilient. They feature amazingly realistic surface textures, making them a perfect alternative for those who wish to recreate natural effect flooring in their home. We are able to offer these tiles from quality brands: Karndean, Polyflor and Tarkett and our friendly staff are always happy to offer advice on achieving the best look for your home.

Wooden flooring

A naturally sustainable product with unique characteristics. Properly cared for, wooden flooring can last for twenty years or more, making it the perfect investment for your home. We stock a huge variety of different materials and different surface finishes; from soft and light to darker tones so we can always offer you on-trend styling.

Some types of wooden floors can be sanded and re-sealed breathing new life into them. Being a natural product the appearance and patina of real wood can change over time giving it an utterly unique appearance.

Solid wood:

Crafted from a single piece of timber, solid wood flooring has an elegance that is unsurpassed. Welcoming and warm, plank thickness can be from 18mm to around 30mm and are available in a huge choice of species and surface finishes.

A solid wood floor can be sanded and refinished as many as four times in its lifetime to help maintain the natural beauty of the wood. It is directly fixed to the subfloor giving a solid feel and appearance. Because it’s a natural product, solid wood is affected by moisture and expands and contracts with the changing seasons so is not suitable in all situations. To help counteract this, expansion gaps are left around the perimeter of the room and are hidden by skirting or beading.

With proper care a solid wood floor will serve you for many years and can be a great investment for your home. If you’re unsure about which one is right for you, don’t forget we are always on hand to offer you advice on the best products to suit your needs.

Engineered wood:

If you’re looking for a hardwearing and cost-effective alternative to solid wood flooring without compromising on style, engineered wood is a great option. Every bit as beautiful as solid wood, it offers durability too, which is perfect for the modern home.

Engineered wood is manufactured using a 10mm plywood base, which is topped with a 3–5mm solid layer of hardwood for a really authentic feel. The finished product is incredibly tough and any internal movement is restricted making it less susceptible to warping and shrinkage than a real wood floor.

Available in a variety of species and styles, engineered wood can be sanded up to two times in its lifetime. It can either be fixed to the subfloor or fitted in a floating system on a suitable wood flooring underlay. Expansion gaps are left around the perimeter of the room which are covered by skirting or beading.

Laminate flooring:

Laminate flooring is the perfect alternative for those who are looking to re-create the timeless beauty of a real wood floor at a fraction of the cost. Manufactured using a high-density fibreboard base and a photographic printed layer, the flooring is then sealed with a protective wear coating.

Easy to care for, durable and stylish, laminate flooring has greatly improved in the last five years both in its appearance and functionality. The modern day laminates are hard wearing, UV resistant and warm underfoot.

They come in a wide range of styles and colours and are also available with textured surfaces and bevelled edges making it easy to re-create that real wood style to suit any home.

We stock trusted brands: Quickstep, Balterio and KronoSwiss and our friendly staff are always happy to discuss your requirements to achieve the look you desire.

Floor Sanding:

Bring back to life an old tired existing wooden floor by sanding it back to reveal the original surface. Sanding a wooden floor will remove the existing surface whether it is oil, varnish or wax and make to floor flat and smooth. It is then ready to receive a new coat of seal or varnish which can be the same colour as before or even a different colour choice.

This is a service that we can arrange through ACE Flooring of Oxford or follow the link acefloorsanding.co.uk
